This small Parish Council in Staffordshire, through its local parish councillors and clerk, administers its modest annual budget in the interests of the local inhabitants of Forton, Sutton and Meretown. It meets quarterly in Forton Parish Rooms (whilst the Parish Room is closed meetings are being held at Forton Cricket Clubhouse) and members of the public are encouraged to attend. Other occasional meetings may be called to discuss planning and other issues when a rapid responses is required, these too are open to the public. The dates of all meetings are published on this website as well as on three noticeboards, one each in Sutton, Forton and Meretown.
The council each year, has a modest amount of money available for Grants for the benefit of the parish. Applications don't close until March, so do consider whether you have a suitable scheme that might benefit.
The Red Lion pub in Sutton has now been granted Asset of Community Value status to give time for "The Red Lion Support Group" to endeavour to save it as a pub, for the community. Do look at their poster and questionnaire under 'NOTICES' > 'Red Lion Support Group'.
The Parish Hall Committee will want to encourage greater use of the Parish Hall by the community and is asking for ideas to be submitted. Do look at their poster below for details.
The council is presently running with one councillor vacancy. We would welcome an application from anyone in the Parish but particularly someone from Sutton where we are presently under represented. Please contact the clerk if you are interested.
